Week 8, Part 1 – Spread the Word
A Christ Community Message
Remorse Makes Way for Revival
Lord, what needs to be revived within me?
For thus says the High and Lofty One
Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy:
“I dwell in the high and holy place,
With him who has a contrite and humble spirit,
To revive the spirit of the humble,
And to revive the heart of the contrite ones.”
Yes, Lord! That’s the goal, that’s the purpose, and that’s the plan – to dwell with You all the days of our lives (Psalm 27:4). This is Your heart’s desire and Your will. Lord, let Your will be done here on earth as it is in Heaven. Come and dwell with us, Your people who are called by Your Name. For we shall be Your people, and You shall be our God.
And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”
2 Corinthians 6:16-17
And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said:
“I will dwell in them
And walk among them.
I will be their God,
And they shall be My people.”
“Come out from among them
And be separate, says the Lord.
Do not touch what is unclean,
And I will receive you.”
Lord, You are the only True God. But we, Your people, have opened the door to other gods in our lives. For anything that competes for our resources, our energy, our time, our thoughts, our hearts become idols that demand to be served. Lord, please forgive us. For You are worthy of our whole heart, mind, and strength (Deuteronomy 6:5, Matthew 23:7). When we do not give all of who we are to all of You, this breaks Your heart, and the idols of this world only leave us unsatisfied, spiritually malnourished, and eventually destitute. But the good news is that You are near, and You are ready to heal all that has broken our hearts. If we will only humble ourselves with a contrite heart and acknowledge our sins of unfaithfulness, You will move in our midst, cleanse our hearts, and dwell with us once again. For You have the power to deliver us, and with hearts of humility, we say, “Come Lord Jesus, we want You to rule in our hearts, in our homes, in our families, in our businesses, in our schools, in our government, and in our land once again. Please forgive us for not putting You first. Please forgive us for falling asleep and not responding to what breaks Your heart. With sorrowful hearts, we repent. Come and revive us, come and heal our land. May there be a Great Awakening, a Great Revival of joy and gladness!
2 Chronicles 7:14
If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
Lord, You are ready to heal us, but are we willing to humble our hearts and admit that we have not allowed You to be the Lord of our lives in everything we say and do? We are guilty of chasing our own glory and the glory of our family names. We have broken Your heart, but instead of disowning us, Your loving kindness offers a remedy, a way of escape, a path of rescue to full restoration – a simple act of humility accompanied with genuine sorrow and remorse makes the way for revival.
Revival is coming! We hear daily of solemn assemblies with prayers of repentance springing up across the land. May we join in the sweet chorus of repentance that is sweeping among the remnant of Your people. We want You to come and dwell in our midst here on earth just as You do in Heaven!
Thus says the LORD:
“Heaven is My throne,
And earth is My footstool.
Where is the house that you will build Me?
And where is the place of My rest?
For all those things My hand has made,
And all those things exist,”
Says the LORD.
“But on this one will I look:
On him who is poor and of a contrite spirit,
And who trembles at My word.”
Lord, may we build a spiritual tabernacle for You to dwell. For we are Your living stones, and You, Jesus, are the chief cornerstone.
1 Peter 2:4-6
Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious, you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. Therefore it is also contained in the Scripture,
“Behold, I lay in Zion
A chief cornerstone, elect, precious,
And he who believes on Him will by no means be put to shame.”
Holy Father God, You are the Promise Keeper! We take hold of Your promises. Our responsibility is to come before You with a contrite heart, and we can be assured that You will keep every promise that You have ever spoken. For Lord, You are faithful, and You will do it!
1 Thessalonians 5:23-34
Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.
May we allow the Lord to search our hearts, posture ourselves in His presence with a contrite spirit, confess our sins, repent, and rise up restored, renewed, and revived. May Jesus reign now and forever in our hearts and in our land!
Spread the Word!!
With humble and contrite hearts we cry out for revival,
