Week 6, Part 5 – Spread the Word
A Christ Community Message
Abiding in the Bubble of the Holy Spirit
Lord, what do I enjoy most about being in Your presence?
The LORD also will roar from Zion,
And utter His voice from Jerusalem;
The heavens and earth will shake;
But the LORD will be a shelter for His people,
And the strength of the children of Israel.
For many, the shaking of the pandemic has been a time to seek shelter in the Lord. This hiding place has been a time of resting, abiding, waiting, and trusting in Him. Many have planted gardens, and these gardens are now producing. The gardening experience has provided an opportunity to know God in a deeper way, and to get to know who we are in Him. It’s sort of like a holy bubble of protection from the great shaking around us. A place where our hearts and thoughts can dwell and linger in His holy presence. A place to be protected from negativity and fear.
Something new is happening, something good, something holy, and not everyone understands that something has changed. We are changing, our world is changing, and everything as we have known it before is changing. The things that we had an appetite for in the past are losing their flavor and interest.
1 John 2:17
And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.
We are learning to wait as we abide in the Lord. Abiding is at the forefront of our day. Our prayers, petitions, and worship are the conductors to the presence of the Lord, and they are our act of obedience to the Holy Spirit as He moves us.
Lord, keep us in the bubble of Your Holy Spirit. Keep us in Your Holy Word. Even Your Word is coming alive in us in new ways. It’s like You are working in the garden of our hearts. As You prune us, You look for and remove the “imposter” branches that produce no fruit. You support the young branches so they can flourish, and You trim and refine the branches that produce fruit so that they may bear good fruit.
God, You are our Master Gardener who removes every branch that does not bear good fruit. And at the same time, You support and supply for the new growth and refine and trim the branches that are already generating fruit so they may produce according to Your will.
For it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.
The most significant purpose of the pruning process is to stay connected to the Vine, Jesus Christ. And if we remain in the Vine safely secured in His holy bubble, God will make provisions for us to rest in Him as He works everything out for the greater good. So, may everyone be encouraged; God is at work; therefore, let us say, “Prune away, Lord Jesus. Prune away!”
